BEsST Summer schools will be proposed based on partner’s skills to train audiences to an interdisciplinary approach of bioeconomy and its underlying scientific domains ranging from economics, environmental and eco-design approaches using chemical and/or biochemical transformations and processes.
To contribute to ecological transition, new routes for biomass conversion must be evaluated in terms of environmental analysis, economic specificities, and societal issues. This implies developing scientific knowledge and advances in different fields such as supply or availability of resources (dedicated or wastes) and their fractionation, conversion of these resources into valuable products using chemical, physical and/or biological reactions, operating by optimized (bio)catalysts (natural or engineered for biocatalysts) in the most adapted processes with the most complete vision for both eco-design and optimized process system according to economic, environmental and social issues. In comparison with existing summer school dealing with bioeconomy, a particular attention will be given to create practical courses (i.e. labworks) in small groups on specific/advanced parts in order to create links between participants and trainers beyond the summer school.
BEsST will take place from 5th to 13th July 2018. The proposed program is divided in topics to acquire both general and advanced knowledge on each topic. To allow for further discussions but also, to create links between learners and trainers, labworks will be carried out in small groups and within the partners‘research labs or Institutes. Visits of research labs will be organized and participants can present their own work or research Institute by poster, exposed in lunch room.

ENZYME ENGINEERING
MICROBIAL ENGINEERING
CHEMICAL TRANSFORMATION and VALORIZATION
UP- and DOWN- STREAM PROCESSES.
Expected participants are PhD students (training credits can be obtained), Junior and Senior Scientists and members of Companies with interest in bioeconomy
